This BMW 5-series sedan has regenerative braking -- it uses braking power to generate electricity -- but it's not a hybrid.
The energy the brakes generate isn't used to drive the car. Instead, it's used to drive accessories like the air conditioner. That takes some of the load off the engine so more of the engine's power can go to powering the car, particularly during acceleration.
The 528 also has a few other fuel-saving tips up its very stylish sleeve, including an efficient 8-speed transmission.
