Android triumphed, YouTube thrived, and in 2010 Google proved it's as strong a company as ever. As it pushes deeper into mobile and finds new places to put advertising -- that's you, YouTube -- Google is showing that it might have a future less dependent on search advertising to drive earnings, which rose 30% last year.
One of its brightest new markets: display ads. Analysts estimate Google made up 13% of the entire display ad market in 2010--up three-fold since 2009.
