At J.C. Penney, whip out your phone and text JCP365 and you'll be signed up for back-to-school mobile coupons.
Inside J.C. Penney stores, back to school shoppers will find a "Dorm Shop" area with signs displaying MS tags (they often look like oversized bar codes). Scan a tag with your phone and it will take you to a handy school "check list" that also lets you shop for your school goods directly from your phone.
In their ads, you can scan a tag next to items you're interested in to get more information about the product.
In New York, the only city where Penney has outdoor advertisements, the retailer is putting MS tags on back to school billboards, bus shelters and subway station ads. Scan the tags with your phone and you'll get a mobile coupon worth $10 off a $30 purchase.
