5. You'll get little help with the cleanup bill
Homeowners insurance generally won't cover bedbug treatments or damages. (Lawmakers in New York recently introduced legislation that would require insurers to offer optional coverage.)
Many cities, including Boston, New York, and San Francisco, require landlords to pick up the extermination tab. Check on your local regulations at rentlaw.com.
If you bring bedbugs home from the office, your boss should let you take time off to remedy the situation; some may pick up the tab. Got bugs on the road? On occasion, a hotel will wash your clothes or even replace your luggage.
