Gaige Clark comes from a family of flower growers. Her flower shop, Spruce, is in the heart of Chelsea, a historically gay-friendly neighborhood.
Not only does she make flower arrangements, but her space is often used for cocktail parties and events.
''This is going to open up a whole new business for us," said Clark, referring to the passage of gay marriage in New York. ''I expect our wedding business to grow.'' It's too early to tell exactly how much.''
For now, she is still enjoying the moment. ''I am just happy that this passed,'' she said. And she is ''excited for many, many people who can get married and marry the person they love.''
The shop operates with a small staff of four. Flowers come in from all over the world -- including Holland, Ecuador, Israel, and New Zealand.
She is is excited about the new opportunities that await. ''We haven't hosted a wedding, but we would love to,'' she said.
