The command center for all of Google's social pieces is the Google Profile.
It's just like any other social network profile in that it allows users to post information about themselves to the public, including their job, hobbies, links, photos and other personal information.
But it also gives you the ability to manage who can see your Buzz posts and contacts, Plus 1 recommendations and Gmail address.
A user's Google profile itself doesn't have the full functionality of a true social network, but Google made it easy to sew together with the company's other pieces if it decided to go head to head with Facebook on a larger scale.
