Values for Mercedes' classic Gullwing cars have taken flight. Two examples ranked among the top-10 prices paid for collectible cars at this year's Scottsdale, Ariz. auctions.
In fact, this car brought the highest price paid of any at the week of events which now involve six different auction companies. This six-cylinder-powered car was the sixth of 29 aluminum-bodied Gullwings built. They were intended for racing but this particular car was never used on the track.
Auction prices from all the different venues were tracked and compiled by Hagerty Insurance, a collector car insurance company.
