With my company's website, small business owners can create a logo design in minutes, using different text, colors, fonts and symbols. The service is free, and if they like the design, they can purchase the original high-resolution files for $39.95.

After launching in 2011, we grew by 713% that year. And we are projected to grow sales by over 200% in 2012. Obviously, my greatest challenge in growing the business has not been finding customers. It has been hiring skilled employees.

We are looking for an Internet marketing manager and an online marketing specialist with one to four years' experience. Unfortunately, the universities are not doing a good job of educating people in the business of social media.

E-mail marketing, Google Adwords and Facebook are a few of the preeminent online marketing channels in the world today. Yet I talk to graduates with marketing degrees from top-tier universities who have never been taught how to develop and execute these programs.

The pace of technological innovation is staggering, and colleges need to keep up with it by having one foot in the private sector with startup companies. Not enough of this is happening.
