Americans are working fewer hours, partly due to the rise in part-time jobs. These people want full-time work, but can only find part-time gigs.
I have a M.S. in psychology but I still can't find a full-time job. I work as a part-time instructor at the local community college, but that wasn't paying the bills so I kept looking for full-time work. Then my student loans came due -- all $117,000. So I took a server job at the Olive Garden.
I have been using Simply Hired to look for jobs. I also have been using websites of places where I would like to work. Last week I attended a seminar that was taught by people who do interviewing at a place I really want to work, and gave them a business card and told them I would be interested in an internship or something entry-level. I truly need something full time. I am anxious to start paying off my student loans.
I've applied for a full-time administration job at the community college where I am an instructor and I am anxiously waiting to see if I get it. It feels like it is a Hail Mary pass. I have been turned down so many times. I'm losing hope and I am really depressed all the time.
