These workers clock in when others are celebrating holidays with family... and guess what? They don't mind!
Once again I am working the holidays -- Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's - but it's not a burden. In fact, it's just the opposite.
I work for a non-profit transitional housing program that focuses on substance abuse and addiction. There are three programs that I oversee during the holidays, housing about 50 people. Each program has a Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner and the community gets together to express their gratitude and thankfulness during this holiday season.
Most clients don't have families to go to so it is extremely gratifying for me to be able to share some of their stories and successes.
I have my own family, but to actually be there with my clients and break bread with them -- that's my other family.
