(MONEY Magazine) – Nearly all of the MONEY 65 fund categories posted strong one-month gains. Among large-caps, American Funds American Mutual led with a 4.2% return. Small-caps and midcaps also surged ahead, with ABN AMRO MidCap up by 5.6%. The best performer: T. Rowe Price New Era, whose energy holdings rebounded 7.8%. But most bond funds failed to keep up--American Century International Bond was off by 1.5%.
