Buzz for the film is high and two movie industry analysts who have already seen it say Sony has nothing to worry about. Sure, Craig is replacing Pierce Brosnan, a popular Bond, whose four films all grossed more than $100 million in the U.S., according to figures from Box Office Mojo, an industry research firm.
But Paul Dergarabedian, president of Exhibitor Relations Co., a box office tracking firm, said that "Casino Royale" should easily duplicate the $100 million box office take that Brosnan's films routinely grossed.
In fact, he said that the controversial decision to abandon Brosnan should pay off since the new film is darker than the previous four Bond films, which tended to rely more on elaborate gadgets, and that this should please hard-core fans of the series.
"Daniel Craig is amazing. All those fears that people had about him as the new Bond should be put to rest. He's a worthy James bond. Yes. He's blond and yes, he's grittier. But they completely remade and reinvigorated the franchise," he said.
