Stocks start higher, small gainsMajor gauges post modest gains as blue chips try to snap 6-session losing streak.NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks opened higher Monday after six down sessions for the Dow industrials, the longest losing streak since June 2005. The Dow Jones industrial average and the S&P 500 edged higher in the early going. The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose about 0.6 percent. Oil prices moved off their early lows to trade little changed just above $59 a barrel in electronic trading. |
