State and local laws affect small business owners more than federal ones

The U.S. government has less impact on the fate of entrepreneurial companies than one might expect, according to the leaders who completed our exclusive Zogby poll.


(FSB Magazine) -- 44% of entrepreneurs in our survey say that state and local government policies had more impact on their business than federal policies. 30% say the federal government has more impact.

In general, how would you assess the impact of federal policies versus those of your state and local government on the health of your business?

The federal government is far more important: 13%

The federal government is somewhat more important: 17%

State and local government are somewhat more important: 24%

Federal and state/local government are equally important: 21%
