Social networks

Xing (formerly OpenBC)

Formerly known as OpenBC, Xing's professional networking site was Germany's first social network to go public. With a stronghold in Europe, Xing is now moving to build its presence overseas. In June, the company partnered with ZoomInfo to access its index of 36 million business professionals and 3.8 million company profiles. Reid Hoffman's LinkedIn, with 12 million members, is six times bigger than Xing, but the latter has one clear advantage in the global market: Xing is available in 16 languages, whereas LinkedIn is English-only.
