Tiffany built its revered brand on its elegant sterling silver flatware, but it was the more affordable silver jewelry line that brought its little blue boxes to a mass market. Indeed, some might say that the luxury retailer's focus on lower-priced items have tarnished its sterling reputation. While the jewelry company also offers high-end gemstones, watches and china, it's these smaller silver confections -- like Elsa Peretti's sought-after designs and the "Return to Tiffany" charms - that drive sales. In fact, silver jewelry and accessories represent a quarter of Tiffany's total sales, and a substantial portion of foot traffic in the company stores.
