Not-so-special-edition cars

Analysis by Kelley Blue Book indicates that special edition models don't hold their value better - and often do worse - than regular cars.

Today's retained value: 65%
Loss since new: $13,160
Standard 350Z: 71%
Loss since new: $7,860
The 35th Anniversary Edition was the most expensive version of the 350Z offered that year. Buyers got all the perfomance equipment offered on the 350Z Track edition, plus a navigation system and satellite radio, according to Nissan.

With a sticker price $10,600 higher than a standard 350Z combined with lower value-retention, the 350Z Anniversary Edition has cost its owners a lot, according to Kelley Blue Book.
