We knew a recession was a possibility when recommended Dick's, but we thought sporting goods would weather the storm. After all, moms and dads are likely to pass up other purchases first before choosing not to buy a new baseball glove or soccer ball for their son or daughter.

Well, our emerging category killer got killed. Dick's will eventually bounce back, but there are now better opportunities elsewhere.
