Video game maker Electronic Arts did not deserve such a drubbing. To be sure, sales of some new releases haven't justified their sky-high development costs. And the company desperately needs to increase its offerings for the Nintendo Wii, the hottest-selling game console.

That said, earnings are still growing and a better-than-expected Christmas would do wonders for the stock price.
