Taleo
What it is: On-demand software that lets companies oversee job openings, process applicants and build a career site with just a browser.

Who uses it: Companies with less than 3,000 employees buy Taleo Business Edition primarily for its online recruiting capabilities and low-cost subscription model.

Cost: Base pricing starts at $99 per user on a monthly basis.

Why Taleo: The software helps Marni Sampair, president of executive search firm The Constant Search, keep tabs on her five recruiters, all of whom work remotely. By tracking everything from "costs per job fulfillment to anytime a candidate applies for a particular job" via a Web portal, Sampair says she "can see what recruiters are working on at any given time, including what time they log in and out of the system."
