Azura, Mozambique
Azura, Mozambique
Benguerra Island, off the coast of Mozambique, is one of the hottest new travel destinations, and a perfect location for a post-safari chill out.

The newest hotel there is the Azura, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. There are only 15 villas, and each one is just a few steps away from the beach. A private butler is assigned to each villa, which also has a private infinity pool and indoor/outdoor his and hers showers.

The resort focuses on fresh local cuisine, and guests can choose to eat in their villa, on a dock or under a palm tree. The island's big draw is its population of endangered sea cows, and the hotel offers excursions to view these gentle creatures. Visitors can help to protect and release the turtles from their nests on the island's shores, or spend their days sailing to deserted beaches or big game fishing.

Rates: Starting at $450 per person per night
Opening date: October 1, 2007
