Ford F-150
Front impact: Good
Side Impact: Good
Whiplash protection: Good
Stability Control: Standard
Top Safety Pick: Yes

Ford boasts of having "America's safest full-size pickup," a claim based on crash test scores - it's up there with the Tundra in the Insurance Institute tests and outscored it in government tests - as well as on the number of "important safety features" on the truck.

Besides standard stability control, the F-150 has what Ford calls the "K-bag," a seat-mounted side airbag designed to minimize injuries. A new side-impact sensing system deploys the airbag 30% faster than a conventional sensing system, Ford says.
