Stevenson identifies himself as an "Eisenhower Republican," saying the GOP was more moderate and the tax rates more progressive in the 1950s.
He said economic inequality is one of the main issues that drew him to the Wall Street protest.
"The middle class in America is disappearing," he said.
His past protest experience includes participation in a march for women in Washington, D.C., in 2004.
