Back on the Ice

(FORTUNE Small Business) – In November we reported that Christian Brothers, the famed Warroad, Minn., hockey stick manufacturer, had closed its doors (see "Hockey Stuck"). But since then Jerry Hogue and Mark Hayden, who own Denver-based sports-equipment firm Harrow Sports, have invested needed funds in the operation on the condition that Rick Christian, the son of founder Roger, oversee production. "I thought they were still a strong company," Hayden says. The firm will produce a new one-piece composite stick but still make its two-piece wood model. Says Rick Christian: "The family's name is strong. Everyone's happy that we're back." -- JOHN U. BACON
