Virtual Goods, Real Money
By Nina Sovich

(FORTUNE Small Business) – Who says materialism is limited to the material world? A new website called There.com is helping enterprising videogamers make real bucks off virtual goods. The site is a Sims-esque community in which a player can spend the morning exploring the pyramids, then change into a leather body suit for a night out. She can also download software to design goods like clothes, vehicles, and houses, then sell them to fellow members for "therebucks," the site's virtual currency. There.com's "Bank of There" converts real dollars into therebucks and vice versa. Here, products from two developers who hope to cash in. (All prices are in therebucks.) --NINA SOVICH
