How to find great ski-vacation deals and discounts now
By Donna Rosato

(MONEY Magazine) – GO NORTH

Canada isn't the bargain it was two years ago (due to the slipping U.S. dollar), but it's still a deal. A four-day pass at Aspen costs $296 vs. $229 (U.S.) at hip Whistler in British Columbia. For bigger savings, ski the slope less traveled: A four-day pass comes to $200 (U.S.) at Banff in Alberta and $178 at Fernie in the Canadian Rockies.

BOOK A PACKAGE

Jackson Hole's Snow Seeker package starts at $635 a person, including round-trip air fare, five nights' lodging and a three-day lift ticket (888-733-4005). Separately that would cost at least $935. And through Feb. 17, a United Airlines promotion at Jackson Hole, Steamboat Springs and other resorts lets kids under 12 fly, stay and ski free.

BUY AHEAD ONLINE

Many resorts discount tickets and equipment that are purchased online in advance. Vermont's Killington offers 20% off tickets, gear rentals and lessons if you buy 14 days ahead at killington.com. —DONNA ROSATO AND MEGAN JOHNSTON
