Around the house
With someone who comes to your home, you should hand them the gift directly and personally. For people outside the home, giving the gift is sometimes more complicated. You may not be home or available when the gardener or garbage collector arrives, for example. If that's the case, consider mailing the gift or leaving it somewhere the recipient can easily see it. And if you have to leave an envelope outside, be sure to put it in a waterproof bag.
