By late in the day many bidders have gotten tired (or used up their budgets) and headed home. The auction speeds up as the final lots are sold off for lower prices and with fewer bids. Plus, says Zenko, you won't be tempted to bid early and pay more. If you're willing to forgo the blue chips, you could score some great deals.
