Essential albums: (pronounced 'lěh-'nérd 'skin-'nérd), Second Helping, Street Survivors

Why they rock: Their ode to Southern living, "Sweet Home Alabama," was never a No. 1 single, but it is one of the few ringtone megahits. Fans have downloaded it more than a million times. Although few members remain from the old days, the band still plays to sellout crowds.

Bottom Line: Their most recent tour is expected to gross more than $24 million.
