Valentine's Day is a good time to take a look at gold, and there's one stock that sparkles a bit more than the rest. Goldcorp has proved to be a consistent performer despite a volatile commodities market.Going forward, more downward pressure on the U.S. dollar means "we can look forward to reasonably buoyant prices in the gold market," said Geoff Stanley, an analyst with BMO Capital Markets. That is good news for the future of Goldcorp.
And the Vancouver-based company's acquisition of rival Glamis in November, along with the promotion of Glamis' CEO Kevin McArthur to CEO of Goldcorp, underscores its commitment to development and exploration projects, according to Stanley.
"The growth aspect of the company is very attractive and that's something that has set it apart from many of its peers," Stanley said.
On average, analysts expect revenue to jump nearly 45 percent this year, which could mean the company's future is as good as gold.
