With sales down across the board, non-hybrid Escapes are starting to pile up at dealers, so Ford is offering a $1,500 cash rebate on the just-introduced 2009 model.
This isn't just the same old Escape, by the way. For 2009, the Escape getsmore powerful 4-cylinder and V6 engines and an available 6-speed automatic transmission that provide better fuel economy and performance. Plus, electronic stability control is now standard.
These incentives don't apply to hybrid versions of the Escape, though. These days, dealers need no help at all selling those.
