The MKZ is very similar to the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan sedans, which have also proven to be good and reliable cars, according to Consumer Reports.
While the MKZ has a strong engine and a supple ride, it wasn't the top-scoring American car in its class. That was the Cadillac CTS, which fared much better in the magazine's performance tests.
But Consumer Reports rated the Cadillac's dependability as merely "Fair," which was not good enough to earn its inclusion in the magazine's list of best American cars.
