This is the one category in which an American product was included in Consumer Reports' "Top Picks," of all automakers - foreign and domestic.
The Avalanche is really part truck and part SUV. The rear wall of the cab, where passengers sit, folds down, creating an opening into the bed to allow for carrying larger items. It replaced the Chevrolet Silverado, which was the top pick last year.
