Owner: Pepsi
The soda made with a small percentage of real fruit juice was launched in 1984 to compete with Sprite and 7-UP. (It later introduced Slice in orange, apple and cherry cola varieties.)
Pepsi had been trying to make a play in the lemon-lime category, second only to colas, since its launch of the soda Teem in 1959. Pepsi's then-head of soft drinks Roger Enrico reportedly said it would get a major 10% share.
Today it's carried in just a few markets, with Sierra Mist essentially replacing Slice as Pepsi's lemon-lime soda.
