Michael Arcuri
A former county district attorney, Arcuri won this sprawling, central New York district decisively in 2006 after 12-term Republican incumbent Sherwood Boehlert retired. He ran a sloppier campaign in 2008 and was nearly toppled by self-funding construction magnate Richard Hanna. Arcuri faces a rematch against Hanna, a moderate, this year, and their war chests are evenly matched so far. Arcuri's biggest problem may be with his own base: Labor leaders and liberal groups are still furious with his vote against health care reform.
