The department store struck its deal with filmmakers too late to make it into the movie, and ironically, an entire scene of "Sex and the City 2" is set in rival retailer Bergdorf Goodman.
But that hasn't stopped Macy's from becoming an official promotional partner of the film. The store launched a multi-platform campaign including print, TV and in-store advertising, free giveaways and a sweepstakes that offered free tickets to the New York City premiere and a trip for four to Marrakesh, where the movie was filmed.
In return, Macy's got the rights to use SATC2 in its print and TV advertising and in-store events.
"Sex and the City is the holy grail of fashion entertainment and pop culture," Macy's said in a release.
