NetApp gives you five paid days of volunteer time off a year. I use my volunteer time off working with [my local] fire department. To get the required 200 hours of training, I took 5 straight weeks off of work. NetApp allows me to do my job and to volunteer. They are very supportive of that.
Now I'm a hero to my three children because I'm a fireman. It doesn't matter that it's not my day job. Your job is secondary to doing the things that are most important in your life.
