I started in 2007 -- at that time there were eight of us in the marketing department. It was a much different world.
About two years ago I had the opportunity to help start the brand marketing team -- it was pretty exciting. As managers we want to spend time with our team outside the office so we can forge friendships.
People think we play all day long and we do. Our team spends a day out of the month doing something fun, like bungee-jumping off of the [Las Vegas] stratosphere. There's usually a theme like overcoming fears -- and a lot of happy hours, of course. I don't think every other company operates the way we do.
