Frustrated with their job searches these workers decided to stop looking for traditional jobs. Some retired, while others are reinventing themselves.
Michael Wall spent some 40 years loading passengers and freight on to Delta Air Lines (DAL)planes at odd hours in the morning. He dropped out of the labor force at 57, when Delta offered him a $100,000 package to help with medical expenses. He signed up for Obamacare and hasn't regretted dropping out of the labor force. "This was my chance to free up my life without worry of what I would do for health care."
