Target made a comeback this year with the strongest sales it's seen since 2007, thanks in large part to the continuing success of its PFresh remodel program, which adds perishable food items to the general merchandiser's stores. In 2011, Target renovated nearly 400 locations, bringing the number of revamped stores up to 900. The company plans an additional 230 remodels by the end of the year.
