Learn more about the entrepreneurs we polledSmall business owners are a diverse crowd.(FSB Magazine) -- Entrepreneurs obviously aren't a monolithic voting bloc. Their political views are as likely to be influenced by gender, socioeconomic background and ideology as by ownership of a small business. "Their perspectives are shaped by their opinions about all kinds of things, from abortion to the war in Iraq," says Todd McCracken, president of the National Small Business Association (nsba.biz), an advocacy group based in Washington, D.C. For example: God and healthcare: 23% of small business owners in our poll who attended religious services more than once a week listed healthcare reform as a top priority, as opposed to 66% of entrepreneurs who never attended services. Big box, small government: Just 12% of entrepreneurs who shopped weekly at Wal-Mart favored government-administered healthcare, versus 59% of those who never patronized the Walton empire. It's a guy thing: 44% of male entrepreneurs still held favorable views of President Bush, compared with only 25% of their female counterparts.
