The new AcuraLink Real Time Traffic system available on new Acura cars goes an extra step. Instead of just telling you're about to drive into a traffic jam where you'll end up wasting gas going nowhere, the system will route around it automatically.
The underlying technology isn't perfect, of course. With various navigation systems, we've been warned of traffic jams that never appeared and not been warned of traffic jams we were right in the middle of. But a system that helps most of the time is still better than one that never tries.
