Nerjyzed Entertainment
Founded in 2004; 42 employees

Nerjyzed Entertainment is a digital media company that was founded in 2004 in Dallas. We saw an opportunity to bring a different type of video game experience to the market with our game called The Black College Football Xperience. The second edition of the game went on sale last month, and we have two additional games under development.

Our board voted to move Nerjyzed to Baton Rouge in 2006. What we saw was an economic climate in the city that was really redefining itself in the entertainment and digital media space. There is also an enormous amount of talent that we could pull from within a small radius, because of Louisiana State University, Southern University and the many other colleges near us. We had individuals who relocated with the company, but our staff went from about 10 employees to 40 within three or four months of our move to Baton Rouge.

I was born and raised in Baton Rouge and came back after 20 years. The food here is unbelievable. It's a very family-oriented community, and the houses you can afford in this housing market are just phenomenal.

The talent here is extremely available. You've got motivated individuals who want to be part of the industry and will do whatever is required to be successful. I know I'll be able to move my business in the right direction in Baton Rouge. -Sheena Harrison
