William Klesse, the CEO of Valero Energy, gets to place on one of the world's best courses a lot because the TPC San Antonio is in the same town as Valero Energy's headquarters. There are two 18-hole courses created by the world's foremost golf-course designers, Pete Dye and Greg Norman.
The course is brand-spanking new, having opened in 2010, but it already was chosen to be the home of a major PGA tournament -- the Valero Texas Open coming up in May.
Klesse calls it "very challenging but beautiful." It follows the gentle contours of the Texas Hill Country landscape and there are deep woods and green fairways studded with bunkers.
