The Mercedes-Benz E320 CDI, powered by Mercedes's Bluetec clean diesel engine, still isn't quite clean enough to make it available in all 50 U.S. states. Aside from heat-trapping CO2, equivalent gasoline engines still emit less pollution than even this ultraclean diesel.

Still, the E320 CDI gets a very impressive EPA-estimated 37 miles per gallon in highway driving.
