Company: Drexel Burnham Lambert
Mike Milken got the ink and the jail time, but during Drexel's years of glory and disgrace, Fred Joseph was the CEO. Since the firm's liquidation in 1990, Joseph has run an investment-banking consulting firm, acted as senior advisor and managing director at ING, and founded investment bank Morgan Joseph & Co. with a great-grandson of J.P.'s, John Morgan. Joseph loves doing deals but thinks the current era of easy capital may come to a painful halt, a subject he knows something about. "This Goldilocks environment will end, and we'll probably see some blowups," he says. "We talk about what we should have done, but coming up the other side you never see the end."
