Age: 59
Company: Ford
Ford's problems - high costs, plunging market share, sagging stock price - have only worsened since ex-CEO Nasser was pushed out in 2001. Now managing partner of One Equity Partners, he doesn't miss running a huge public company. Nasser says, "I wanted to do something very different. I enjoy the sense of urgency and discipline that private-equity ownership brings to the whole business, and the opportunity to take a fresh look. I also enjoy the ability to be involved in a variety of businesses. What I miss is the passion around the development of new cars and trucks."
