At first blush, an action movie starring Oscar winners Jamie Foxx and Chris Cooper, as well as "Alias" star Jennifer Garner, sounds like an obvious hit. But are audiences hungering for a movie about the war on terror?"The Kingdom" is about a team of FBI agents sent to Saudi Arabia to investigate a bombing. Advance reviews have been fairly solid. But other recent movies related to terrorism and the situation in the Middle East have not captured the hearts of moviegoers, making this a bit of a dicey bet, despite its star power.
Last year's "World Trade Center" from Oilver Stone grossed a respectable, albeit not spectacular, $70 million in the U.S. And this summer's "A Mighty Heart" about the murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl grossed less than $10 million, even though it featured Angelina Jolie as Pearl's widow.
