Not-so-special-edition cars

Analysis by Kelley Blue Book indicates that special edition models don't hold their value better - and often do worse - than regular cars.

2006 Scion xB Release 2.0

Standard xB: 88%

Loss since new: $1,770

Scion produced a number of limited Scion xB's for the 2006 model year. Only 2,500 were made of this version, each one marked by a special dashboard plaque. Unique features included Solar Yellow paint, a tunable sport muffler and a sport mesh grill.

Although the xB is a value retention champ, used car buyers don't seem to be warming up to this version.
