After graduating from Harvard and a stint at Oxford as a Marshall Scholar, a 23-year-old Canner joined McKinsey to develop its innovation-focused Change Center.
In 1998 he became a founding partner at consultancy Katzenbach. The firm grew from three partners, one associate, and an office manager to about 100 people when it was sold to Booz earlier this year.
Staying on board with the new parent company as Booz's youngest senior partner, Canner is the go-to guy for problems that don't yet have specialists. With his focus on strategy and organization, he's now working with GM on its culture change.
